Geoffrey Brooks
Professor Geoffrey Brooks is a Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Swinburne University of Technology.
His background is in Process Metallurgy (he did his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Melbourne) an he has an international reputation in that field, winning major international awards from the TMS, AIST and ASM for his fundamental work in metallurgical processing.
Professor Brooks has also developed new image, sound and vibration sensors for the process industries, holding patents in that field and working with industrial partners to implement these technologies in practice.
He is also leading the development of Insitu Resource Utilisation in space research at Swinburne, particularly relating to the processing of lunar regolith and the engineering challenges relating to establishing a habitation on the moon.
Professor Brooks has been working on the instrumentation side of Dark Matter detectors since 2017 with Alan Duffy, Shanti Krishnan and Jeremy Mould and is on the Executive Committee for SUPL (representing Swinburne) as well as the Sabre S Executive Committee (representing Swinburne).
Geoff is currently Chairing the OHS Committee for SABRE.
