The Centre for Dark Matter Particle Physics is committed to providing equitable access to centre events and opportunities for all members, as outlined in our code of conduct. This includes providing assistance to anyone with carer responsibilities, such as parents and guardians of children, and those with dependent family members due to age, illness, and disabilities.

Carer responsibilities may limit engagement from Centre members at the Early Career Researcher and Annual Workshops, which are among the most valuable research and networking opportunities within the Centre. The Centre provides financial support to ensure these opportunities remain accessible to carers. This can include travel costs for dependents that may need to accompany Centre members to the workshop, as well as the cost of hiring care for dependents either at the workshop location or at home while the carer is away.

An option to request such support is included in the registration form for the workshops, and carers can discuss their support options with workshop organisers to find one that best suits their needs and the needs of their dependents.

The Centre also acknowledges the importance of scheduling events that consider the varying time zones (Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra/Sydney/Melbourne) and the university calendars and public holidays specific to each state. These factors, including differences in semester dates, mid-semester breaks, exam periods, and public holidays, are critical to ensuring equitable access and maximising participation across the country.
