Temporary home found for 12 tonnes of solvent for SABRE South experiment
The Centre has found a site to store 12 tonnes of liquid scintillator fluid before it is transported to Stawell to be used in the SABRE South experiment.
The experiment will be carried out in the Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory to help researchers gain an understanding of the nature of dark matter.
The Centre’s partner, ANSTO, agreed to store the container of fluid at the Australian Synchrotron while the underground laboratory is constructed.
The Australian Synchrotron is a major research facility located in Clayton, a technology and innovaton hub southeast of Melbourne. It is one of Australia’s most significant pieces of scientific infrastructure.
