Sensing Dark Matter at the Melbourne Science Gallery
Taiwanese artist Su Wenchi’s Sensing Dark Matter VR experience that merged art and physics was a resounding success.
The experience at the gallery between 20 February and 1 March, 2025, sold out as audiences explored a speculative universe where dark matter and its gravitational effects became perceptible.
The performance artists from Yilab undertook a residency, including visiting the Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory, collaborating with the Centre’s dark matter scientists.
In the experience, participants used VR headsets and spatial audio to navigate the universe, experiencing cosmic forces.
The exhibition was part of AsiaTOPA at the Arts Centre Melbourne of Victoria and the Melbourne Science Gallery.
